Spiders Turn In Strong Showing at NCAA Southeast Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The University of Richmond cross country team had the opportunity compete against some of the best teams in the country at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday. The women's team had a strong showing as the Spiders placed four in the top-100 among an elite field of runners. On the men's side, freshman Miles Clikeman led the way as he finished in the top-75. 

Sophomore Colleen Carney led the way for the Spiders on the 6K crouse as she clocked a 21:57.8 in the 6K race. Freshman Peyton McGovern turned in a 22:06.8 to finish 76th overall with senior Tara Hanley and junior Shelby Cain close behind at 22:08.8 and 22:22.0, respectively. 

Junior Kylie Regan crossed the line with a time of 22:37.8. Sophomore Ave Grosenheider (23:11.4) and freshman Claire Brown (23:26.6) rounded out the Spiders' scoring as the women finished 15th overall among a strong field. 

Clikeman paced the Spiders in the 10K race as he crossed the line at 31:11.7. Junior Ryan Lerda finished in a time of 32:57.6 while freshmen Andrew Testas (33:23.9) and Will Alpaugh (33:27.4) were right behind.
