Freshmen Highlight Final Day of Patriot Invitational

Patriot Invitational Recaps: Day 1   |   Day 2

FAIRFAX, Va. – In the final day of the Patriot Invitational, freshmen Hannah Gouger and Virginia Marsh, along with senior Hannah Matheson, recorded top-five finishes.

At the conclusion of the three-day meet, the Spiders finished fifth with a total of 364.50 points. UNC Wilmington, Drexel and host George Mason finished as the top-three teams. 

Gouger took third in the 200 back stroke as she turned in a time of 2:02.59 while junior Hannah Verrette took seventh at 2:05.20.

In the 100 free, Marsh and junior Annie Lane registered season-best times. In the prelims, Lane hit her season-best mark of 53.10. Marsh had a top-five performance in the finals at 51.14, in her debut in the event.

In the 200 fly, Matheson notched a fourth place finish at 2:06.86. Junior Erin Barry had a top-eight performance in the 200 breast stroke at 2:20.88. 

The Spiders will be back in action in the nation's captial on December 3, as they take on George Washington in a dual meet.
