UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- The University of Richmond field hockey head coach Gina Lucido has announced the signing of four student-athletes to join the Spiders for the 2017 season.
Abra Granger | 5'8" | Defender | Winston Salem, N.C. (RJ Reynolds HS)
Granger has been a four-year varsity player at RJ Reynolds High School where she was a three-time First Team All-Conference honoree. This past season, she earned Second Team All-State honors and was the MVP of the RJ Reynolds team. In both 2015 and 2016, Granger was named to the North Carolina All-Star Team and earned a spot on the East-West All-Star team this season.
Cadera Smith | 5'2" | Forward | Doylestown, Pa. (Central Bucks West HS)
Smith is a four-year varsity starter at Central Bucks West HS where she finished her prep career with 55 goals and 24 assists. Smith, who is a two-time offensive MVP, earned First Team All-State honors this past season along with picking up First Team All-Suburban One League honors twice. This past fall, her Central Bucks West HS team was the Pennsylvania District 1 Championship runner-up. Smith is also part of USA Field Hockey, earning a Bronze Medal at the National Futures Championship and was a Stars and Stripes Team selection.
Frankie-Lynne Conklin | 5'6" | Goalkeeper | Greenvale, N.Y. (North Shore HS)
Conklin is a four-time All-Conference honoree, two-time All-State honoree and earned Regional All-American honors in 2015. At North Shore High School, Conklin was a two-year captain and the 2015 MVP after recording 190 saves in goal. During her senior season she posted a 10-4 record in the cage. Conklin was a 2015 participant in the AAU Junior Olympics and won a bronze medal in 2014.
Kelsey Hengerer | 5'9" | Midfield | Barna, County Galway, Ireland (Dominican College Taylors Hill)
Hengerer, who was a four-year starter for the senior team, was named the First Ladies Player of the Year in 2015. She was a senior vice captain and co-captain the past two seasons along with being a two-time Connacht League winner (2015 and 2016). In both 2015 and 2016, Hengerer and her team finished second in the Irish Challenge Cup in both of those season.
