UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's golf program continues to get stronger under third-year head coach Ali Wright. Wright has announced two outstanding new signees for the fall of 2017 in Lizzie Reedy and Ally Steffen.
"We are very excited to welcome Lizzie and Ally into our program," Wright said. "They have championship pedigrees and will look to contribute to our team and culture immediately."
Lizzie Reedy comes to Richmond from Marietta, Ga., and Pope High School. She was a 2015 and 2016 Transamerica Scholastic Junior All-American.
Reedy is ranked 15th in the 2017 class by Junior Golf Scoreboard, and ranked 21st in her class by Golfweek.
Last year, she was named the 2016 Georgia PGA Champion as she led her high school to a regional championship and a runner-up finish in the GSGA. She was her region and sectional low medalist in high school, as she set a new school record.
She was also named MDJ Golfer of the Year for Cobb County in 2016.
An outstanding student, Reedy is a National Hispanic Scholar, National Merit Commended Student and earned the Georgia Certificate of Merit.
Ally Steffen is a native of Armonk, N.Y. and Byram Hills High School.
With a career-low score of 74, she has earned All-Section honors every year in high school and was All-State in 2016.
She helped lead her team to a NYS Championship in 2015 and 2016.
A dual-sport athlete, Steffen also plays field hockey where she has been an All-League player since eighth grade. She was All-State in field hockey in 2015.
Academically, Steffen is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and interested in studying chemistry or business.
