UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – As the start of the 2017 season approaches, head women’s lacrosse coach Allison Kwolek has announced the signing of seven standout student-athletes for the 2017-18 season.

The Spider signing class brings a balanced talent to the squad, with attack, midfield, defense and goalkeeping all represented. The incoming class boasts athletes from four different states, with three hailing from New York, two from New Jersey and one each from Massachusetts and Tennessee.

Sarah Conley | Attack | Needham, Mass.
Coach Kwolek on Conley: “Sarah is a very fluid and talented attacker.  One of the ways she sets herself apart is her ability to work off ball and get open on cuts.  She is always heads up and either creating opportunities for herself or her teammates to get a great look on goal.”

Brittney Wright | Defense/Midfield | Moorestown, N.J.
Coach Kwolek on Wright: “Brittney is a tenacious defender.  She has incredibly fast footwork and also plays her angles very well.  She is a very strong player and will be a great addition to our defensive lineup.”

Becca Curro | Defense | Niskayuna, N.Y.
Coach Kwolek on Curro: “Becca is a tough competitor and brings her best everyday to the field.  As a defender she has great footwork and a ton of speed coming out of the defensive end.  I am looking forward to her challenging our attackers and pushing her teammates to get better.”

Mekenzie Montgomery | Midfield | Hainesport, N.J.
Coach Kwolek on Montgomery: “Mekenzie is a workhorse.  She is focused when she steps onto the field and always involved in hustle plays.  I love how hard she plays and the consistent effort she brings to the field.”

Rachel Ziemba | Attack/Midfield | Cazenovia, N.Y.
Coach Kwolek on Ziemba: “Rachel has incredible stick work and a high IQ for the game.  She easily reads a defense and takes what they are giving her.  That savviness is special and will constantly keep our defenders on their toes.”

Jordan Ricciardi | Attack | Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.
Coach Kwolek on Ricciardi: “Jordan is a versatile attacker who brings a strong understanding of the game to the field.  Her passion and dedication to the sport will prove invaluable during her career here as a Spider.”

Grayson Lusk-Hussong | Goalie | Memphis, Tenn.
Coach Kwolek on Lusk-Hussong: “Grayson plays with great composure and is calm under pressure.  She’s also patient on shots and plays her angles well.  I’m looking forward to working with her and watching her continue to grow.”
