Barry, Irish Women's Team Win World League 2 Title

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Former Spider Hockey standout Rebecca Barry has continued to have success on the turf. This time she is competing on the world nevel playing for her native, Ireland. 

The Irish shutout Mayalsia, 3-0, to win the World League 2 title. 

En route to the title, Ireland was the high-scoring team to beat in the tournament. Barry was credited goals during the tournament run. 

The tournament is Ireland's first round of qualification for the 2018 World Cup and they want a top-two finish to qualify for World League 3, where they could play in either Belgium (21 June-2 July) or South Africa (8-23 July) depending on rankings.

The Limerick, Ireland native finished her career at Richmond as a three-time NFHCA All-American and the 2014 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. Barry also earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors each season and was a two-time NFHCA First-Team All-South Region honoree.
