Spiders Finish Two Strokes Above Georgetown In Season Opener

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - The defending champion Spider women's golf team opened the spring season with a contest against Georgetown on Saturday at Independence Golf Club.

Richmond shot 309 as a team while Georgetown shot 307 to win the match play.

The Spiders' low scorer was junior Elsa Diaz who finished at 75 (+3). Sophomore Annie Collom shot 77 (+5) and classmate Sophie DiPetrillo was right behind her at 78 (+6).

Marie Donnici shot 79 (+7) and Isabella Rusher and Kayleigh Reed finished at 81 (+9). Maria Pons Cano shot 87 and Phoebe Short shot 96.

Georgetown was led by Jacquelyn Eleey who shot a 75.

The Spiders play their first spring tournament at Kiawah Island on Feb. 26-28.
