RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond senior T.J. Cline will participate in the 2017 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. The 65th annual tournament will take place on April 12-15 at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va.

Every year, the tournament invites 64 of the best collegiate seniors from around the country to participate in a four-day tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team and many scouts from leagues around the world.

Past Spiders to participate in the tournament include Terry Allen (2016) and Kevin Anderson (2011).

Cline was recently named AP All-America Honorable Mention, the only representative of the Atlantic 10 on the AP All-America lists.

Cline was named to the NABC All-District First Team and the Richmond Times-Dispatch tabbed him the Virginia State Player of the Year. He was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and earned All-A-10 First Team honors.

A native of Plano, Texas, Cline put together one of the most impressive individual seasons in Richmond basketball history. In single-season records, he finished eighth all-time with 648 points, second all-time with 197 assists and 10th all-time with 272 rebounds. No other Richmond Spider has ever finished in the top 10 of all three categories in one season.

He tallied the first triple-doubles in Richmond history and was one of just two players in the country with multiple triple-doubles this season.

Cline ranked 22nd in the NCAA in assists, tallying the most assists by any player 6-9 or taller in the country.

He finished his career ranked eighth all-time with 1,647 points, sixth all-time with 632 field goals made and seventh all-time with 374 career assists. His career field goal percentage of 53.1 ranked ninth all-time.
