UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Making history turns heads.
That’s exactly what freshman Miles Clikeman of the University of Richmond men’s cross country program did this past Friday night at Fred Hardy Invitational, setting a new U.S. 20K Junior National Track Record.
Clikeman’s achievements earned him Wells Fargo Athlete of the Week honors.
The North Chesterfield native broke a 37-yeard old record, clocking in at 1:09:07.50, breaking the previous record of 1:13:13, held by Dale Green (1980).
Clikeman’s record-breaking performance added to his outstanding first year with the Spiders, where he was the top freshman finisher for the Spiders at every cross country event and earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors twice.
