The bread and butter of the Richmond track team has been the 1500m run all season long and there was no changing that on Saturday afternoon. The top runners in the program all took the track and this time it was Ruskan that put on a show. She shattered the track record for this event, knocking a full three seconds off the record to pick up the win in 4:23.85. Down the stretch she managed to hold off the hard charging and previous record holder, Regan Rome of William & Mary who finished just .04 seconds behind Ruskan.
This is just the latest in a string of great finishes for Ruskan who has instrumental in the Spiders securing back-to-back A-10 Cross Country Championships. She has also been a force in this 1500m race for multiple seasons now and will attempt to ride this momentum into the A-10 Championships in Amherst, Mass. in two weeks.
