FRANKLIN, N.C. – The strongest player to ever put on a University of Richmond football jersey will now take his strength and skills to one of the most historic venues in all of the National Football League.
Thomas Evans, a two-time All-CAA offensive lineman for the Spiders, inked a free agent deal with the Green Bay Packers this weekend, becoming the fourth member of this year's team to earn a pro contract.
Evans joined Winston Craig (Eagles), Brian Brown (Cowboys) and David Jones (Patriots) as pro signees.
The Franklin, N.C. native set program records in every weight room category during his time in Richmond and ended his career with 34 consecutive starts, including anchoring the line that helped block for three straight 1,000-yard rushers.
Evans will leave this week to for the Packers' rookie minicamp to work his way to training camp, which is set to begin at the end of July.
