UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's golf team is West Lafayette, Ind. bound for the NCAA Regional Championships, hosted by Purdue, fresh off winning its first Atlantic 10 Team Championship in program history. The 12th seeded Spiders will compete with 12 other programs on Kampen Course, May 15-17.

81 teams and 45 individuals have been selected to compete in the six NCAA Men's Regional Championship sites (13 teams and 10 individuals at three regionals and 14 teams and five individuals at three regionals). 30 teams and six individuals will advance from regional sites to the national championships to be played May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.

It was a long journey for the Spiders but it could not have ended in a more stylish way. The Spiders descended upon the Grand Cypress Golf Club – New Course and brought it to its knees over the course of the three-day, 54-hole event. The team finished –24, 840 overall, outpacing the second place VCU Rams by 13 strokes while placing four players inside the top five.

Richmond fired a season-best -15, 273 on Friday then survived windy conditions on Saturday to shoot Even Par (288) while everyone else struggled. Then Sunday came and no team was going to catch the Spiders. An eight-stroke lead to start the day quickly grew to 13 before teams started making the turn, and from then on it was a coronation.

Joining the Spiders in West Lafayette will be top seeded Florida, Illinois, UNLV, Auburn, South Carolina, Colorado, Purdue, New Mexico, Augusta, Saint Mary's, Campbell and Cleveland State.

This year's Men's Golf Championships will be broadcast for the fourth consecutive year by Golf Channel with more than 100 news and tournament hours planned again for the men's and women's golf championships.
