BLACKSBURG, Va. – University of Richmond women's golfer Elsa Diaz wrapped up the 40th annual VSGA Women's Stroke Play Championship on Wednesday afternoon and took home a second place finish after posting a -1, 218 over the three round event.

Diaz finished up her junior season as a Spider a few weeks ago in the NCAA Regionals in Lubbock, Texas but clearly has not skipped beat. She missed out on first place by single stroke in her attempt to win this tournament a second time in three years, falling in behind Virginia Tech number one player Amanda Hollandsworth. Diaz did however best 2016 Champion, Alexandra Austin by a stroke.

Diaz, who won this event in 2015, carded scores of 72 and 75 over the first two rounds then closed with a -1, 71, the second best score on the course, in the final round to lock up second place.
