Built in 1972 through the generosity of the E. Claiborne Robins family, the Robins Center is heralded as one of the finest facilities of its kind in America. After renovations and the addition of courtside seating, the facility now holds a 9,071 capacity.
The superbly maintained sports complex houses the University's athletic squads and serves as the showplace for University of Richmond basketball. Continued renovations of the facility have made it an even more appealing venue for spectators and the student body. A permanent maple floor, adorned with the Spiders word mark, was installed in 2003.Recently, the men's and women's locker rooms were modernized and upgraded with state-of-the art amenities. Two years ago, a basketball suite, which serves as the home of the men and women's basketball team, was added. The suite contains individual offices for each coach and showcases a plush recruiting room and film area. A new scoreboard and sound system were installed for the 2006-07 season.
In addition to sporting and recreational activities, the Robins Center yearly serves as the site for Richmond's commencement exercises and also provides a forum for countless other educational and cultural events.
In fact, the eyes of the world were focused on the Robins Center in 1992, as one of that year's Presidential debates was held in the Center's main arena.
ROBINS CENTER HIGHTLIGHTS
The Spiders enjoy a large home court advantage in the 9,071-seat Robins Center. The Spider faithful and the Richmond Rowdies student section provide a frenzied atmosphere that has helped Richmond post an overall record of 293-142 (.674) in 33 seasons, including a 51-19 mark (.728) over the past five seasons.
The Spiders have posted winning records in 27 of the 33 years in the Robins Center. Richmond has knocked off several nationally ranked opponents in the Robins Center and will play 16 home games in 2005-06 (the second most in arena history), including visits from Wake Forest, Virginia and Seton Hall.
Recent renovations to the Robins Center have made it one of the finest college basketball facilities in the country. A spacious locker room and comfortably furnished lounge, along with a new weight room and office suite, show that the University of Richmond has made a commitment to bringing the Spider basketball program to the next level.

Charlottesville; Harrisonburg; Charleston, WV) via I-64 Eastbound
Take Exit 183/Glenside Drive south. Continue south on Glenside Drive to the fourth traffic light (Three Chopt Road). Turn left on Three Chopt Road. Continue through the intersection at Patterson Avenue. Continue straight for .5 miles. Turn right onto Boatwright Drive. At the bottom of the hill, bear right at the University of Richmond sign. Proceed past Robins Stadium to the Robins Center on your left.
Alternate Route: via US 60 (Midlothian Turnpike) Eastbound
Turn left on State Route 147 (Huguenot Road) and continue approximately seven miles and cross the Huguenot Bridge over the James River. At the next traffic light, take a hard left onto westbound River Road. Continue straight for approximately .75 mile and make the second right onto College Road. Continue for approximately one mile, going past Westhampton Lake to the Robins Center.
