UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond Spiders head football coach Danny Rocco announced the signing of 16 student-athletes on Wednesday.

All 16 student-athletes will be eligible to begin play in the 2014 season for the Spiders.  The class includes eight offensive, seven defensive and one special teams recruit.  Eight of the signees hail from Virginia, while three come from Maryland, two from North Carolina and one each from Texas, Florida and Tennessee.

"We are really excited today about our signing class of 2014," commented Rocco. "We received 15 National Letters of Intent from a number of student-athletes that we have been with for a long time. This group consists of eight Virginia players, which we are really, really excited about having great history here in the state.

“Additionally, 14 of the 15 signees got into their state playoff tournament, with nine playing in their state championship game. A total of 13 of the 15 young men were in our camp or at our Junior Day and 10 of the 15 were either Honor Roll students or National Honor Society students. I think we address some real specific needs in our area of big bodies, offensive line and defensive line, and we wanted to replenish our linebacking core, which we did.

“In addition to our 15 signees, we have also added RB Jeremiah Hamlin to our roster. Hamlin spent the fall at FUMA, and is currently enrolled here. So we are really excited about this group, as this is our third class. I really feel like this is the best and the deepest group that we've brought here to the University of Richmond."

Coach Rocco will discuss the 2014 recruiting class in the Red Terrace of the Robins Center prior to the men’s basketball game versus St. Bonaventure from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m on Wednesday.

Rocco will be joined by members of his staff and video highlights of the 2014 recruiting class will be shown.  The Football Signing Event is currently sold out, however the entire Signing Day Party will be streamed live on via Spider TV for free.

Rocco will also meet with the media at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the Spiders' signed 2014 recruiting class.  The press conference audio will be carried live by
