MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - The University of Richmond Spiders women's golf team carded rounds of 307-313 to place third after two rounds at the Spider Spring Invitational on Monday with a total of 629 (+44). St. John's leads all teams with a team score of 606 (+30) after 36 holes at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia.
Leading the way for the Spiders on Monday was junior Courtney Rousse, who sits in a tie for eighth place with a two-round score of 153 (+9). Rousse, a Holly Springs, N.C. native, carded rounds of 77-76 on a cool, windy day at the Independence Golf Club.
Sitting just one stroke behind Rousse is teammate Danielle Pinder. The sophomore had a solid day on the links, shooting rounds of 77-77 to tie for 11th after the first two rounds. The third Spider to finish within the top-20 through 36 holes was junior Tracy Martin, who tied for 16th with a score of 156 (+12).
Rounding out the Richmond effort on the first day of action was junior Caroline Lovette and sophomore Lauren Conder. Lovette is tied for 25th with a total of 158 (+14) while Conder sits in a tie for 30th with a score of 159 (+15).
The Richmond Spiders will conclude play at the Spider Spring Invitational on Tuesday when teams play the third and final round. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Results will be posted as soon as they become available.
