Chris Stewart was introduced as Richmond's director of strength and conditioning in February 2009, joining the staff after an 11-year stint at the University of Tennessee, including his last five as associate strength and conditioning coach.  At UT, he served as Graduate Assistant, Assistant and Associate Head Strength Coach.

At Richmond, Coach Stewart is directly responsible for the strength and conditioning of the Spider football program.

He is an Approved Mentor for the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and the former Director of the UT Strength and Conditioning Clinic, one of the nation's largest and longest running strength clinics involving 800 coaches and athletes.

Stewart assisted with the UT football program, while serving as the primary strength coach for the Vols' nationally-acclaimed track & field team and worked year-round with former Vols in the professional or Olympic ranks.

Stewart earned a sport management/exercise science degree from Western Carolina in 1998 and completed his master's from UT in 2001. He is certified through the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

Stewart is married to the former Sherry Briggs of Fayetteville, N.C., and the couple has a son, Cole, and a daughter, Lily.

Master Strength Coach John Stucky - Former Head Strength Coach at UT

John Stucky was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Tennessee Volunteers from 1994 to 2001.  Coach Stucky was considered a pioneer in the field of strength and conditioning and laid the foundation for the Tennessee strength program.  His passion to coach helped develop young men into great athletes through excellent leadership and strong Christian values.
