UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Three Richmond Spider football players were honored in Phil Steele's FCS Preseason All-American and All-CAA Team selections announced on Wednesday.  Redshirt senior LB Darius McMillan was named to the Third-Team Preseason All-America team and to the First-Team Preseason All-CAA Team.  Senior FB Kendall Gaskins was honored as a Fourth-Team Preseason All-American and to the Second-Team All-CAA squad.  Rounding out the honors, redshirt junior Kerry Wynn was named second-team all-conference.

Earning his third and fourth preseason accolades of the summer was McMillan.  The Hampton, Va. native was previously named Preseason All-CAA in July at the league's annual Media Day at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. McMillan was also named Third-Team Preseason All-CAA by College Sports Madness.

Last season, McMillan was terrific for the Spiders, earning All-America honors and a spot on the All-CAA Second Team. Starting all 11 games for Richmond, the Hampton, Va., product finished 2011 ranked second in the CAA in tackles with 133 and in tackles per game at 12.1.  On the year, McMillan tallied 40 solo stops, including 3.5 for loss and 0.5 sacks.

Also racking up the preseason accolades has been Gaskins.  Prior to the Phil Steele honors, Gaskins was also named a Second-Team Preseason All-American by The Sports Network and Third-Team All-CAA by College Sports Madness. This Spider fullback from Burlington, N.J. was a TSN Third-Team All-America and First-Team All-CAA selection in 2010 and a third-team all-conference honoree in 2009 as a freshman.

Last season, Gaskins appeared in all 11 games for the Spiders, making nine starts at fullback.  On the year, Gaskins rushed for 650 yards and 10 touchdowns.  His best game of the season came against New Hampshire, when Gaskins scored a career-high three touchdowns while rushing for 81 yards on 16 carries.

Earning Second-Team Preseason All-CAA honors was Wynn. The Lousia, Va. native started in all eight of his appearances in 2011 and registered a season-high of eight tackles, including four solo, as well as a QB hurry at Old Dominion.
