Hello Spider Fans!
After four
plane rides, two busses and three hours of sleep in 27 hours, we finally
arrived at our hotel in Hiroshima, Japan. It was not difficult falling asleep
the first night here. Although the trip was definitely a difficult from a
physical and mental standpoint, we were recovered by the next morning and ready
to explore our surroundings.
After team
breakfast, we headed over to the Hiroshima Peace Park and the Atomic Bomb
Memorial. We were met at the park by media and reporters who watched our every
move as we navigated the park and all of the different symbols of that tragic
day for the people of Hiroshima. It was a heart-wrenching experience, but we
learned more in two hours than we could ever learn from a textbook.
Experiencing the culture and people of Japan has been incredible so far.
Although it
is only day three in Japan, we are starting to elevate play on the field.
Living in a different country and seeing a different culture has been an
incredible experience. We only have one week until our first game against
Ghana. The excitement is already stirring on the team. I can't wait to see what
we have in store for us as we continue on this journey.
