UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - University of Richmond senior standouts Matt Llano and Julie Rechel earned mention on the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Team that was announced recently by CoSIDA. Llano was a First Team pick, while Rechel made Second Team.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Llano, who owns a 3.78 cumulative GPA and is a triple major in psychology, Latin American and Iberian studies and theater, is headed back to the NCAA National Championship in the 10,000m after finishing ninth last season to earn All-America honors. The Arnold, Md. native won the 5,000m at the A-10 Championship and recorded season-best times of 28:43.30 in the 10,000m at Stanford and 14:00.01 in the 5,000m at the Mt. SAC Relays in Los Angeles. He helped lead the men's cross country team to the 2011 A-10 team title thanks to his third-place finish.

Rechel owns a 3.97 cumulative GPA in interdisciplinary studies and just narrowly missed an NCAA National Championship qualifying spot in the 10,000m. The Worthington, Ohio native did set the school record in the 10,000m at the NCAA East Preliminary Round with a time of 34:50.43, and earlier this season finished second overall in the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship. Rechel helped lead the women's cross country team to the 2011 A-10 team title thanks to her 11th-place finish.

The Capital One Academic All-District Teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic achievements.
