JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior Nicol Traynor has advanced to NCAA Nationals for the second-consecutive year following her performance in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Friday at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

Traynor (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) crossed the line in 10:05.60 to take fourth in her heat and ninth overall to finish as the top non-automatic qualifier in Friday's 3k Steeple race. The 2011 All-American now advances to June's semifinals of the event at NCAA Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa.

Classmate Meaghan McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) will wrap up the weekend for the Spiders with her third-consecutive Preliminary Round appearance in the hammer throw on Saturday at 2 p.m. She is coming off an impressive A-10 meet performance in which she captured her first-career conference gold in the hammer throw, smashing the school record in the process with her hurl of 57.03 meters and recording the event's top five overall tosses. McGovern is ranked No. 30 among the field of 48 throwers invited to this weekend's meet.

Spider supporters can follow the meet via live results and free live video stream. A recap will be made available on RichmondSpiders.com following the conclusion of Friday and Saturday's action.
