PINEHURST, N.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's golf team carded rounds of 299-300 to sit in ninth place with a total of 599 (+31) after two rounds at the Golf Pride Pinehurst Intercollegiate. Teams played both the first and second round on Saturday and will finish the tournament with the third and final round on Sunday.
Leading the charge for the Spiders on Saturday was junior Daniel Walker, who tied for 30th with a two-round total of 149 (+7). Walker started the day with a 72 (+1) before shooting a second-round 77 (+6). Just one stroke off Walker was senior Brad Miller, who sits in a tie for 35th with a score of 150 (+8). Miller cut four strokes off his first round 77 (+6) with his second round 73 (+2).
Junior Nick Austin also had a solid day on the course for Richmond, tying for 37th place after 36 holes with a score of 151 (+9). Austin's second round 72 (+1) tied Walker for the Spiders' best score of the day. Freshman Austin Romeo is tied for 44th after carding a first day, two-round total of 152 (+10).
Rounding out the scoring for Richmond on Saturday was sophomore Jack Wilkes, who is tied for 52nd place heading in to the final round Sunday with a score of 155 (+13). Playing as an individual, senior Jack Lessing had quite a day, tying for 25th place with a total of 148 (+6).
