NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Richmond Spiders senior men's golfer Brad Miller was named the Atlantic 10 conference Men's Golfer of the Week on Thursday, the league office announced. The honor is the first this season for Miller and the second time he has earned the award in his career.
Earlier this week at the Coca-Cola Invitational, Miller led the Spiders to a tie for sixth finish, with his three round score of 211 (-5). With his great effort, Miller placed sixth overall at the tournament with his rounds of 73-69-69.
"Brad has worked extremely hard on his game this spring - I am happy to see him get some reward for putting in all the time and effort," Spider head coach Adam Decker said. "He's heading in a good direction as we look forward to the conference championship down in Florida at the end of April."
The top-20 finish for the Timonium, Md. native was the 10th of his career and the fourth this season. The sixth place finish for Miller was the best individual showing for any Spider golfer this season.
The Richmond Spiders will have just under three weeks to prepare for the Atlantic 10 Championship in Coral Springs, Florida. The conference championship will be held at the Heron Bay Golf Club on April 27-29.
