The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team has had its number of great players, with many of them continuing their careers long after their days playing for the Spiders are through.

Since 1995, Major League Baseball teams have selected 31 players off the Richmond roster - 16 of which have been selected in the first 15 rounds of the draft. In 2012, former Richmond All-American Sean Casey was inducted in to the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame.

Under Spider head coach Mark McQueen, seven Spiders have been selected in the MLB Draft, including six since the 2010 season (Adam McConnell (Twice), Chris Cowell,Mike Mergenthaler, Chris Bates, Ian Marshall).
