UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Mary Flowers was named A-10 Player of the Week after tying a school record with a career-best eight goals in a win over American last week.

The junior attacker tied a school record that was set back in 1990. Flowers, a native of Virginia Beach, Va., ended her stellar day with 11 points adding three assists to her eight goals. She also registered eight draw controls and five ground balls to pace the Spiders.

Flowers has started every game for the Spiders this season, and leads Richmond in virtually every statistical category: goals (20), assists (7), points (27), shots (31), ground balls (26), draw controls (22) and caused turnovers.

Flowers leads the A-10 in goals and has doubled the total of the next closest player to her in this category.

This is the second player of the week honor garnered by Flowers, as she earned a nod last season for a then career-best six goals against St. Bonaventure.

The Spiders host ODU Wednesday at Robins Stadium at 4:00 p.m.
