Colonials lead series 3-8-3

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond men's soccer team hits the halfway point in A-10 play this Saturday when it travels to the nation's capital for a contest with George Washington. The Spiders and Colonials are set to kick off at 12 p.m. at GW's Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.

LAST TIME OUT
The Spiders (2-10-1, 1-3-0 A-10) dropped a pair of decisions on the road in conference play last weekend. After suffering a 2-0 setback to Xavier on Friday, freshman midfielder Sean Baker (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) netted his third goal in four matches as the Spiders fell, 2-1, to Dayton on Sunday.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
After opening conference play with a pair of wins, George Washington (4-6-2, 2-2-0 A-10) was blanked in both its contests on the road last weekend. Junior goalkeeper Alejandro Almodovar saved a penalty kick and secured a season-high seven saves, but the Colonials could not overcome its offensive woes in a 3-0 setback to Dayton on Friday. Despite finishing with an edge in the shots column for the second-consecutive contest, GW failed to find the back of the net once again in Sunday's 2-0 loss to Xavier.

The Colonials return nine starters and 16 letterwinners from last year's squad that went 3-15-0 (1-8-0 A-10). Senior forward Yoni Berhanu leads the Colonials with 14 points on a team-high six goals and two assists, while junior forward Seth Rudolph trails just behind with 12 points on five scores and two helpers. Junior goalkeepers Alejandro Almodovar (1.43 GAA, 23 saves) and Brendan Lafferty (1.65 GAA, 16 saves) have split time between the pipes in the team's 10 matches this season.

GW holds a 3-8-3 lead in the all-time series with the Spiders, who turned in a 2-1 victory over the Colonials in their last meeting in 2010.
