UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's soccer team cruised to its second-straight win on Friday with a 3-1 thumping of Duquesne on 'Senior Night' at Robins Stadium. The Spiders, who have now prevailed in consecutive contests for the first time this season, have tallied three of their four victories in A-10 play this fall.

"I'm very proud of our play tonight," said head coach Clint Peay. "We had an excellent first half and continued to battle in the second. It was great for the guys to come together and get a win on Senior Night."

Freshman midfielder Sean Baker (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) put the Spiders (4-12-1, 3-5-0 A-10) ahead early on a score in the 13th minute, sailing a shot from 25 yards out and into the left corner of the net.

Fellow freshman Timmy Albright (Richmond, Va./Collegiate School) would enter the scoring column five minutes later. The play was set up on a free kick by rookie defender Nick Butler (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards), whose feed Albright delivered from the far post into the net's left pocket.

The Dukes (7-8-2, 4-3-1 A-10) trimmed the lead to 2-1 just before intermission behind a score by sophomore forward Simon Gomez, who escaped the Spider backline at the center box and slid a shot into the right corner at the 42:53 mark.

Duquesne flexed its offensive muscle throughout much of the second stanza, but could not capitalize on its 18 shots in the frame. Spider junior Houston Oldham (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) helped thwart the Dukes' momentum midway through the half when he broke free down the right side and flicked a shot over keeper Colin Thorpe to give the Spiders the insurance goal in the 69th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brown finished the match with a season-high 12 saves to earn his second win in as many matches, while Colin Thorp stopped five on the Duquesne side.

The Dukes held a 23-14 advantage in shots and came away with a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Spiders will look to make it three straight in Sunday's season-finale against St. Bonaventure, with the kick set for 1 p.m. at Robins Stadium.
