Spiders Wrap-Up Day One at Atlantic 10 Championship

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Richmond Track & Field team opened their showing at the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday. 

Redshirt senior Mary Allen clinched spots in both the 400 and 200 finals tomorrow. In the prelims for the 200, she turned in the second fastest time of the day at 24.16. She won her heat of the 400, which automatically qualified her for the finals as she crossed the line at 55.65.

Sophomores Ave Grosenheider and Jordan Angers represented the Spiders in the 10K as they finished at 39:14.85 and 29:26.44, respectively. This was the first time Angers ran the 10K in her career. 

Along with Allen in the 400, sophomores Marshea Robinson and Chloe Smith posted times of 1:03.27 and 1:03.43, respectively, in the prelims. 

Freshman Morgan Towe represented Richmond in the 100 prelims turning in a time of 12.78. Towe (25.88) along with classmate Gabby Bowen (26.30) also toed the line for the 200 with Bowen logging a personal best in the event. 

Fellow rookie Maria Acosta led the Spiders in the 800 for a top-20 finish at 2:13.92. Freshman Claire Brown (2:15.34) and junior Stephanie Hughes (2:17.50) also competed in the event. 

In the first day of field events, junior Liz Montague notched a mark of 4.59m in the long jump.

Tomorrow's action begins at 10:30a.m. with the 4x100 relay and shotput.
