SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The University of Richmond men’s lacrosse team had a historic start to the 2017 season.
With a 4-0 start, the best ever in program history, and a #12 national ranking, the highest in program history, the Spiders turned quite a few heads.
Lee is enjoying an outstanding start to his second season with the Spiders. In the four games in the month of February, Lee scored 13 goals and notched five assists for a team-high and league-high 18 points. He scored at least three goals in every one of Richmond’s February games to become the first Spider in program history to post four consecutive hat tricks.
The South Salem, N.Y. native finished the month ranked 12th in the country in total goals.
Pugh is making his last season at Richmond his best. He has already twice earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honors and currently leads the country in goals against average and save percentage.
In the four February games, Pugh allowed just 17 goals, an average of just 4.25 per game. He racked up 13 or more saves in three of Richmond’s four February games.
The Spiders return to action this Saturday when they open up SoCon play against VMI at Robins Stadium. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
