UNIVERISTY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Following a career performance in the Spiders’ dominant 18-7 win over Liberty, University of Richmond women’s lacrosse attacker Marissa Brown has been named the Wells Fargo Athlete of the Week.
Brown opened the season with an impressive performance for the Spiders on Saturday, scoring twice and assisting on six additional goals for a career-high eight points in the Spiders’ 18-7 win over the Flames.
The sophomore scored on her only two shots of the game, including once on a free-position attempt in the second half, while her six assists were just one shy of the program record for a single game.
Brown also scored once and added an assist in the Spiders’ 15-14 last-minute loss to lacrosse power Virginia on Wednesday night.
As a rookie in 2016, Brown scored 15 goals and added 13 assists to earn Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team honors
