Sports: Men's Soccer

Steven Purcell joined the University of Richmond Sports Medicine staff in August 2007. Steven's primarily responsible for overseeing medical care of Men's Soccer in the fall and Men's/Women's Soccer, Field Hockey in the spring. Last year he had to opportunity to work with the Men's/Women's Cross Country and Track and Field teams, and Women's Swimming and Diving.

Steven received a B.S. in Athletic Training from Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wisconsin in 2005. He went on to earn a Master's of Science degree in Kinesiology emphasis in Athletic Training from Indiana University in June 2007. He completed a master's research project (with Brynn Schuckman) entitled, "Differences in ankle range of motion before and after exercise in two tape conditions" in June 2007. While at Indiana University, Steven worked the first year with football and Men's/Women's swimming & diving. His responsibilities changed in his second year to medical coverage of Men's/Women's track & field teams.

Steven Purcell and Brynn Schuckman's master's research project has been accepted and will be published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine.

Steven is a native of Saint Louis, Missouri, and now resides in Richmond, Virginia.
