Women 10th, Men 18th In Competitive Field At Paul Short Invitational
Oct. 2, 2009 Men's Results | Women's Results LEHIGH, Pa. - The Richmond women's cross country team placed 10th and the men finished 18th Friday at the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University. Both Spider teams competed in the events top-seeded race, with senior Jenn Ennis leading the women and Tim Quinn pacing the men. Ennis took 32nd overall in a time of 21:16, followed by junior Julie Rechel in 64th (21:40) as the Spiders out-distanced conference foes La Salle (14th-place), Duquesne (20th), George Washington (25th), Saint Joseph's (27th) and Massachusetts (36th). Freshman Dana Guglielmo was 99th (21:56), sophomore Carter Norbo was 106th (22:00), freshman Rachel Sykes was 121st (22:09), sophomore Beth Kelly was 131st (22:14) and freshman Stephanie Paradis was 146th (22:22). There were 362 runners in the women's 6k field. The Spider women averaged 21:48 for the 6k race. For the men, Quinn's 29th-place finish led the club in a time of 24:20, which was 25 seconds faster than his time in this event last season. Sophomore Levi Grandt, who finished 43rd, was 61 seconds faster this year than last in a time of 24:31. Sophomore Tim Smith was 152nd (25:20) and senior Garrett Graham was 156th (25:22) - improving his time by over one minute from last season. Freshman Chris York clocked in with the Spiders' fastest 8k time by a rookie in more than 20 years (25:24) to finish 161st in the 386-runner field. Richmond's men averaged 24:59 for the 8k race. The women's team champion was West Virginia, while Indiana claimed the top spot in the men's race with all five Hoosiers placing in the top-20 individually.
