Box Score

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Derek Duclos and Matt McLoughlin combined for the no-hitter, this evening, and lead the Spiders to a 2-0 win over Coastal Carolina in their final game of the Baseball at the Beach tournament. It is Richmond's first no-hitter since Ed Ketchie in 1957. Duclos allowed no hits, no runs, struck out six in his six innings of action and posts a 2-0 record.<

Sophomore Ben Zeskind (Miami, Fla.) led the Spiders, at the plate, with three hits at four at-bats and one RBI.

After four scoreless innings, the Spiders clinched the early 1-0 lead in the fifth, off two hits. Freshman Matt McKenna (Richmond, Va.) started the inning off with a single to right field and was moved to second off senior Bobby LeNoir's (Wilmington, Del.) sacrifice bunt. Sophomore Zeskind (Miami, Fla.) crushed a double, to left-center field, allowing McKenna to score and give the Spiders the lead.

Coastal Carolina threatened in the seventh, with one runner in scoring position and two outs. McLoughlin (Del Mar, Calif.), who took over for Duclos (Exton, Pa.) in the seventh, ended the inning by fanning the batter.

In the eighth, the Spiders added another run to the board when bases were loaded and freshman Vince Riggi (Saratoga Springs, Fla.) was hit-by-a-pitch, allowing Josh Farkes (Boston, Mass.) to come home and make the score 2-0.
