
No. 10 Baseball Falls in Extra Innings to Old Dominion, 4-3

NORFOLK, Va. - Freshman Ben Zeskind (Miami, Fla.) launched two home runs, but Richmond would fall 4-3 in extra innings to Old Dominion. Richmond's record drops to 5-1, while Old Dominion's improves to 5-5 In the first inning, Zeskind stroked his second homer of the season. The two-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week repeated again in the top of the third, blasting his second of the game and third homer of the season. The Spiders best scoring opportunity came in the fourth with the bases loaded. Second baseman Bobby LeNoir (Wilmington, Del.), attempting to stay in the count, fouled out to the Monarch's first baseman. In the top of the eighth, junior pinch runner Bryan Pritz (Wilmette, Ill.) plated the third and tying run on senior Michael Galligan's (Woodbury, N.Y.) fielder's choice. Richmond would hold off Old Dominion to send the contest into extra innings. Reliever Matt McLoughlin (San Diego, Calif.) would hit Old Dominion batter to send in the game winning run. McLoughlin (0-1) took his first loss of the season. He faced 12 batters, striking out three in three innings. Sophomore Jason Bolinski (Hockessin, Del.) started his first game of the season striking out nine in six innings. Old Dominion answered Zeskind's first homer with three runs in the bottom of the first. Monarch reliever Kevin Evans (2-0) earned the win.
The Spiders return home to Pitt Field, tomorrow, Wednesday, March 5 against the Keydets of VMI. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
