UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Despite a game-tying home run by Jim Fasano in the sixth inning, the University of Richmond baseball team dropped a, 4-3, decision to conference rival Fordham University, at Pitt Field this afternoon.

The Spiders (15-12, 3-1 A-10) were led by Fasano (Horsham, Pa.) with two hits, one run and one RBI and third baseman David Thomas (McLean, Va.) contributed two hits, including two RBI. Kurt Thomas led the Rams with a home run and two RBI and Jeremy Bourgeois added two hits.

Fordham (11-14-1, 4-3 A-10) got on the board first, when it posted three runs in the third inning and then the Spiders responded with two runs, on one hit in the fourth. Catcher Alex Wotring (Bethesda, Md.) walked and freshman Josh Farkes (Boston, Mass.) reached on an error, before Thomas ripped a two-run single to center field.

Fasano's solo home run in the sixth inning, tied the game at three. It was the first baseman's 10th dinger of the season.

In the eighth inning, the Rams' Thomas hit the game-winning home run, his first of the season.

John Baco pitched a complete game and posted the win for Fordham. Jason Bolinski allowed six hits in his second complete game of the season and took the loss for Richmond.

The Spiders and the Rams complete their conference series with a doubleheader Saturday, beginning at noon.
