William & Mary Tops Baseball 7-2

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The University of Richmond baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision to William & Mary this evening in Williamsburg, Va.

Jim Fasano led the Spiders with two hits, including a triple and one RBI. The Tribe was led by Chris Rahl and Greg Sexton, both contributed two hits and Rahl added two RBI.

In the second inning, William & Mary scored two runs on three hits, before the Spiders (18-15) answered with a run of their own in the third. Senior Bobby LeNoir walked and then Fasano singled to left center, knocking in LeNoir.

The Tribe (27-11) added another run in the third when Yancey Jones flew out to left field and scored Rahl, who had reached base on a walk.

William and Mary extended its lead to 7-1 when it posted one run in the seventh and three runs in the eighth.

Richmond tallied its final run of the contest in the ninth inning when A.J. Board singled to right center and scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman Matt McKenna.

Matt Francavillo allowed three hits and two runs in his two innings pitched and took the loss for the Spiders. Jeff Dagenhart allowed four hits and one run in his six innings on the mound and posted the win for the Tribe.

The Spiders return to the field when they host Old Dominion on Wednesday at 3 p.m..
