UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond baseball game vs. Norfolk State, scheduled for Wednesday at Pitt Field, has been cancelled due to rain. The game will not be rescheduled.

This marks Richmond's eighth game this season lost due to weather, and the second in as many days after yesterday's tilt at VCU was washed out.

The Spiders (20-20, 9-12) open a pivotal three-game Atlantic 10 series at Fordham (16-29, 10-11) Friday in Bronx, N.Y., before finishing their non-conference schedule at Old Dominion next Tuesday night.

With six conference games remaining, the Spiders sit alone in ninth place, but are just two games back of sixth. The top six teams qualify for the 2009 A-10 Tournament, to be held at Fifth-Third Field in Dayton, Ohio from May 20-23.
