UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - The Richmond baseball team is back in action this week, with a home-and-home series versus William & Mary. Tuesday night's game in Williamsburg starts at 5 p.m., while Wednesday's game at Pitt Field is set for 3:30 p.m. Junior lefty Brian Farrell gets the call tonight for Richmond, which split last year's two meetings versus the Tribe.

    QUICK HITTERS:
    • The Spiders are 13-7 overall, 3-3 in the Atlantic 10, and had won four of five games before dropping the final two at George Washington this weekend. The Tribe sits at 8-15, 2-4 in CAA play.

    • Senior RF Ryan Metzroth carries an eight-game hitting streak in Tuesday's game, while junior 3B Cameron Brown leads the club with his .384 average and six home runs. Brown smacked a pair of homers in Friday's win over George Washington and enters the week ranked eighth in the A-10 in batting and fourth in home runs.

    • Senior closer Brian Alas pitched six innings of scoreless relief last week for the Spiders and allowed just one hit in those two appearances with six strikeouts. He picked up the wins in both outings, pitching the eighth, ninth and 10th innings as the Spiders won 2-1 at VMI in 11 innings Tuesday and 9-6 at GW in 11 innings Friday.

    • For the season, Alas leads the team with his 1.08 ERA in 16.2 innings all out of the bullpen. The closer is 2-0 with four saves in 10 appearances this season. He's allowed just two earned runs all season, with the last coming at No. 23 East Carolina on March 17.

    • Richmond moved to 4-1 this season in extra-inning games thanks to three games decided in extras last week. The Spiders needed 11 innings to win 2-1 at VMI Tuesday, needed 11 to beat GW 9-6 Friday and fell in 10 innings at GW Saturday. All five of Richmond's extra-inning contests have come in the last seven games and the team has played 14 innings of "free" baseball since March 20.

    • The Spiders continue conference-play this weekend at Saint Louis, with a three-game set that begins Friday at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT). The Billikens are 14-11 overall, 2-3 in the loop.
