The event is open to the public, as scouts from across Major League Baseball will be in attendance to watch the Spiders and Rams workout. VCU takes its workout from 4-5 p.m., followed by the Spiders from 5-6 p.m.

The teams are set to play an exhibition game following the workouts, lasting about 12 innings. The game is scheduled to start about 6:15 p.m.

Second-year head coach Mark McQueen returns 26 letterwinners -- four starting pitchers and five starting position players from last year's team that was among the youngest in the Atlantic 10.

Richmond's 2009 season opens Feb. 21-22 at Pitt Field with a three-game series versus Niagara.
