UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The baseball teams at the University of Richmond and VCU will together hold their annual Major League Baseball Scout Day Wednesday evening at The Diamond in downtown Richmond. Following the workouts, the teams are set to play an exhibition game at 6:15 p.m.

The event is open to the public, as scouts from across Major League Baseball will be in attendance to watch the Spiders and Rams workout. VCU will take its workout from 4-5 p.m., followed by the Spiders from 5-6 p.m.

The teams will play an exhibition game, following the workouts, lasting about 12 innings. The game is scheduled to start about 6:15 p.m.

Under first-year head coach Mark McQueen, the Spiders are coming off a 32-28 campaign which ended a win shy of reaching the Atlantic 10 Championship game.

McQueen returns four starting position players and three starting pitchers from last year's squad, including A-10 Rookie of the Year Matt Zielinski (LHP). Richmond welcomes nine newcomers to the 2008 squad.
