Email: mjenkins@richmond.edu Former Air Force men's basketball player Marcus Jenkins is in his second year as director of basketball operations at the University of Richmond. Jenkins is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the basketball office, film breakdown, team travel and organizing the recruiting database. Jenkins came to Richmond after finishing a three-year Air Force commitment in Great Falls, Mont. The Lompoc, Calif. native was a senior in 2004 when Air Force was ranked in the Top-25, won the Mountain West Conference, played in the NCAA Tournament and finished the year 22-7. "Marcus is outstanding addition to our staff," Mooney said. "He excelled as a student-athlete at the Air Force Academy and his knowledge of the game, ability to communicate and leadership qualities will make him invaluable to our program." Jenkins had a desire to get into coaching and helped out at Fairfield High in 2006-07 while finishing up his military service in the Air Force. Jenkins was a two-year starter and three-year letterwinner at Cabrillo High in Lompoc, Calif. He was named Los Padres League MVP as a senior. Jenkins' freshman year at Air Force was the first year Mooney was an assistant coach for the Falcons. Jenkins earned the Falcon Award as a senior as the individual who sacrifices the most for the betterment of the team. After graduating from the Air Force Academy with a B.S. in management, Jenkins fulfilled his military commitment as a Logistics Readiness Officer at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Mont. He was responsible for training personnel, along with the transportation and movement of cargo on the base. |
