THE TEAM
Richmond has scored at least 66 points in all six games for the first time since scoring 66 points in six-straight games during two stretches in the 2000-01 season. The last time the Spiders scored at least 66 points in seven-straight games was during a 13-game stretch of doing so in the 1993-94 season.
All four of Richmond's victories are by double figures.
The Spiders shot 54.5 percent from the field, marking the second time through five games this season that Richmond has shot over 50 percent from the floor. Richmond has shot at least 44 percent from the floor in every game and is shooting an Atlantic 10-leading 51.6 percent from the field.
Richmond out-rebounded Coppin State 39-36. The Spiders have out-rebounded three of their six opponents and are down just 1.0 in rebounding margin, a marked improvement from last season when Richmond was out-rebounded by 5.7 per game.
The Spiders made a season-high 11 three-pointers and have made at least seven treys in five of the six games this season. Richmond is shooting 37.9 percent from three-point land.
Richmond made 30 field goals on the night, the second time this season the Spiders have made 30 field goals in a game. The last time Richmond made at least 30 field goals twice in the same season was in the 2004-05 season when the Spiders made at least 30 field goals in three games.
Richmond had four blocks, the third time in six games that the Spiders had at least four blocks.
The Spiders received 25 points from the non-starters on Sunday. Richmond is averaging 19.8 bench points per game.
THE PLAYERS
Junior David Gonzalvez scored 16 points for his seventh-straight game in double-figures. Gonzalvez has scored in double-figures in 15 of the last 17 games and 36 times in his career. He has made at least five field goals in all six games this season and has 4.7 assist per game average in the last three games with 14 assists in that stretch. Gonzalvez also tied a career high with eight rebounds.
Sophomore Kevin Anderson scored 14 points for his 15th-straight double-figures scoring game. Anderson made six field goals, giving him at least six field goals in five of the six games and at least five in all six games.
Senior Jarhon Giddings scored in double-figures for the second time in the last three games and the seventh time in his career, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting. He made both three-point attempts and is shooting 55.2 percent from the field this season (16-29).
Junior Ryan Butler is a perfect 7-of-7 from the field in Richmond's two home games this season. Butler went 3-for-3 from behind the three-point arc for the second time in as many home games Sunday. Butler was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, including 3-of-3 from behind the arc, in the season opener against Randolph-Macon.
Sophomore Kevin Smith had nine points, including two dunks, four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in 26 minutes.
