  • ATLANTIC 10 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore Kevin Anderson was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and junior David Gonzalvez was named Honorable Mention All-Atlantic 10 in voting conducted among the conference's 14 head coaches.

Anderson was also named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the second time this season, after scoring a career-high 29 points in a victory over No. 17 Xavier on Saturday and pouring in 24 points and the game-winning layup in the win at Charlotte.

The Duluth Ga., native was also named College Chalktalk's Atlantic 10 Player of the Week following his performance last week. Anderson and Gonzalvez were each named to College Chalktalk's All-Atlantic 10 Third-Team.

Anderson leads the Spiders and is seventh in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 16.2 points per game, having scored 24 points or more in four of the last seven games and at least 18 points in six of his last seven games. The 2008 A-10 Rookie of the Year has scored in double-figures in 39 of the last 41 games and is just the fourth Spiders sophomore to reach 800 career points.

Anderson is 12th in the Atlantic 10 in field goal percentage (.465), ninth in free throw percentage (.758), 12th in steals and third in minutes (36.52).

Gonzalvez is second on the team and eighth in the league in scoring at 15.6 points per game and second on the team in rebounding (4.6 rpg). The Marietta, Ga. native is just the 10th Spider to score his 1,00th-point as a junior and is currently tied for 26th on the all-time scoring list, needing just two points to tie John Telepo for 25th place. Gonzalvez has scored in double-figures 55 times in his career, including 25 of the 31 games this season.

Anderson is the second signee of Richmond head coach Chris Mooney to earn Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors as a sophomore, joining Dan Geriot, who was a third-team selection last season.

The Spiders have won four of the last five games and six of the last eight to improve to 17-14 overall and 9-7 in the Atlantic 10, tying for fifth place. Richmond is one of four Atlantic 10 teams to finish in fifth place or better in each of the past two seasons, joining Xavier, Temple and Saint Joseph's.

Richmond will be the sixth seed in the 2009 Atlantic 10 Tournament and plays No. 11 seed St. Bonaventure on Wednesday at 9 p.m. at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.
