  • BROTHERS AND ROBBINS HIGHLIGHTS

    UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's basketball program will welcome incoming freshmen Darien Brothers and Greg Robbins to campus for summer school in a few weeks.
    

    Brothers and Robbins signed with the Spiders in November, during the early signing period and followed their signings with successful senior seasons.

    "We're looking forward to Darien and Greg joining the program," Richmond head coach Chris Mooney said. "They both had excellent senior seasons and they will benefit from coming in this summer and getting comfortable with the University of Richmond."

    Below are updated bios for the two incoming freshmen and check out the video highlights of Brothers and Robbins that were shown at the annual basketball signing party.

    Darien Brothers
    Fr. - G - 6-3 - 195 - Richmond, Va. (Benedictine)

    Two-year starter for coach Sean McAloon at Richmond's Benedictine High, scoring 959 points in two seasons...played his freshman and sophomore years on the varsity team at Monacan High...First-Team Virginia Independent Schools All-State selection...named First-Team All-Cavalier Athletic Conference and First-Team All-Metro Richmond...averaged 23.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.1 steals per game as a senior, leading Benedictine to the state semifinals...named to all-tournament teams at Benedictine Catholic Christmas Classic, Rebel Invitational and VIS State Tournament...a 2009 McDonald's All-American Nominee...averaged 10.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game as a junior, alongside of North Carolina freshman Ed Davis, helping Benedictine to a 28-7 record and the state title...was named All-Catholic Athletic Conference as a junior, when he started every game for the Cadets...no stranger to the Robins Center, he scored 10 points in Benedictine's win over No. 1 ranked Oak Hill in December 2007.

    Greg Robbins
    Fr. - G - 6-5 - 200 - Wynnewood, Pa. (Lower Merion)

    Four year starter at Lower Merion High for coach Gregg Downer, he finishes second on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,619, behind only 2008 NBA MVP Kobe Bryant...was named to the 2009 AP Pennsylvania All-State Second-Team, becoming the first Lower Merion player to earn All-State honors for three consecutive years since the early 1940s...named First-Team All-Central League and All-Main Line for third-consecutive year...received All-Southeastern PA honors from the Philadelphia Inquirer for the second time in his career...led the Aces in scoring for the third-straight season, averaging 18.1 points...averaged a team-high 9.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists as a senior...is the winningest player in Lower Merion history, having won 94 games during his four-year varsity career...MVP of the Villanova Prime-Time Shootout...scored a career-high 38 points against Upper Darby...was the 2007 Main Line Player of the Year...averaged 17.4 points and 7.2 rebounds as a junior, when he became just the second Lower Merion player, along with Bryant, to reach 1,000 points as a junior...was a freshman starter on Lower Merion's 2006 State Championship team.
