Two teams that played in the 2008 NCAA Tournament and two that played in the NIT highlight the Richmond men's basketball team's 2008-09 Atlantic 10 Conference home schedule.

The Spiders will host Xavier (NCAA Elite 8) and Saint Joseph's (NCAA), along with 2008 NIT participants Charlotte and Rhode Island. Charlotte, George Washington and Saint Louis are the three teams that Richmond will face both home and away.

Other home opponents include Duquesne and St. Bonaventure. Richmond's road conference games also include Dayton, Fordham, La Salle, Massachusetts and Temple.

"The Atlantic 10 is obviously, top to bottom, one of the toughest basketball leagues in the country," Richmond head coach Chris Mooney said. "It doesn't matter too much where you are playing or who you are playing twice, every night is a challenge. Our fans will definitely get to see some exciting games in the Robins Center this winter."

The Spiders finished the 2007-08 season in fourth place in the conference with a 9-7 mark and return 87 percent of their scoring, including four of its five starters.

Junior Dan Geriot, a third-team All-Atlantic 10 selection last year, has started 52 games in two seasons and already has 798 career points (13.1 ppg). Fellow junior David Gonzalvez has started 51 games and has 641 career points (10.7 ppg). Sophomore point guard Kevin Anderson was the 2007-08 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year after averaging 10.7 points per game and 34.8 minutes per game, which ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10.

The dates and times of Richmond's Atlantic 10 games are yet to be determined. Richmond's non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
