Men's Basketball Hosts Randolph-Macon On Dollar Night; Home Game Times Announced

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's basketball team will renew a longtime area rivalry when the Spiders host Randolph-Macon in the regular-season home opener Saturday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. prior to heading to Syracuse for a showdown with the Orange Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. on ESPN. The game against the Yellow Jackets will be Dollar Night at the Robins Center with tickets, hot dogs and sodas only $1.00 each. Richmond season ticket holders will receive free tickets to the game. This will be the 81st meeting between the two schools, but the first since 1983. The Spiders hold a commanding 61-19 advantage in the all-time series. Richmond also announced home game times for the 2008-09 season, including three afternoon tip-offs against VCU Saturday, Dec. 13 (2 p.m. ESPNU) in the Farm Bureau Insurance Black & Blue Classic; Rice (noon) Saturday, Jan. 3 and Saint Louis (2 p.m.) Sunday, Feb. 8. Aside from the 8 p.m. home opener against Randolph-Macon, all other Spider home games start at 7 p.m. The Spiders are waiting confirmation from the CBE Classic on opponents for games Nov. 24-26 at a site to be determined. Richmond will open the tournament against Syracuse in the Carrier Dome, Tuesday, Nov. 18 as part of ESPN's College Basketball Season Tipoff Marathon.
