"Those two scores (at the end of the first half and early in the 3rd quarter) were a big difference. It goes from a one-score game to a three-score game. Vanderbilt has a lot of fire power and their kid [Earl] Bennett is a heck of a player. They were a little better than us tonight. I'm proud of our guys. I thought we played very hard. Even down to the end I thought I our guys were still battling."

"We went down to Duke and beat them last year, but that win didn't make our season. We lost to a tough Vanderbilt team tonight, and I don't think this loss will break our season."

"Our offense looked pretty good. Eric was throwing the ball well. The offensive line, they were blocking well. I'm happy with my numbers, but it wasn't enough for the win. As a wide receiver group, we worked with them a lot in the off-season to get the timing right and it really paid off early on tonight. But it just wasn't enough in the end."
