Box Score

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Saint Louis scored on a blast from 24 yards off a restart to defeat Richmond 1-0 in the Atlantic 10 opener for both teams on Friday night.

Tim Ream scored in the 55th minute off an assist by Alex Sweetin and that would be enough as the Billikens improved to 6-4 on the season.

Richmond lost its fourth one-goal game of the season, including the second-straight. The Spiders dropped to 3-7 on the year.

The Spiders took 11 shots, led by three from senior Kern Gardiner, but the Spiders were unable to find the back of the net.

Saint Louis out-shot Richmond 16-11. Richmond sophomore goalkeeper Brock Tomlinson made four saves in goal.

The Spiders head to Charlotte to face the No. 15 ranked 49ers on Sunday at 1 p.m. Charlotte (7-1-2) defeated George Washington 6-0 on Friday night.
