GW Pulls Away From Spiders
Nov. 1, 2008
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's soccer team was locked in a scoreless tie through 63 minutes of action Saturday night, but George Washington scored three goals in 10:03 to win 3-0 at First Market Stadium. George Washington's Andy Stadler, who entered the game as the Atlantic 10's leading scorer, used a header to redirect a shot by Luke Wildy into the back of the net for his 13th goal of the season. That goal came in the 63rd minute and the Colonials made it 2-0 less than five minutes later when Steve Wujek converted a header on a corner kick by Kyle Albrecht. Just over five minutes later Stadler struck again, this time taking a through ball from Albrecht and finding the back of the net from the right wing. While the game was still scoreless, Richmond had a few chances to score but the Spiders were unable to convert. Brock Tomlinson made three saves in goal for Richmond. The Spiders dropped to 2-11-3 overall and 1-3-3 in the Atlantic 10. Richmond returns to action next Friday for Senior Night at First Market Stadium, hosting St. Bonaventure at 7 p.m.
