Vint, Lahoud Earn Men's Soccer All-Region Honors
Jan. 11, 2006 UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond senior Colin Vint (Fairfax, Va.) was named to the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America All-South Atlantic Region Third Team. Senior Chris Lahoud (Fort Worth, Texas) was named honorable mention NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region. This is Vint's second appearance on the South Atlantic Third Team. He also received the honor as a sophomore in 2003. Vint was a three time All-Atlantic 10 selection, including twice making the all-conference first team. He tied for the team lead in goals (3), assists (4) and points (10) this season and finished his career 10th in school history with 21 career goals and 11th on the all-time points list with 55. "Colin had a great season," Richmond head coach Jeff Gettler said. "We had a young team and he didn't get the same type of service in and around the goal as in the past, but his quality of play was tremendous. We're glad he is being recognized for his efforts. The four-year starter played in 71 games in his career, starting 61. Along with earning Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors three times, Vint was also a member of the league's all-rookie team in 2002. Lahoud had already been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team for the second time in his career. The four-year starter played in 68 games, starting 66 in his career. The defender scored a goal and had an assist for three points this year and was the leader of a defense that allowed just 24 goals in 18 games, holding opponents to one goal or less in 13 of 18 contests. Lahoud, who has the highest GPA of any senior at the University, finished his career with eight goals - including two game winners - and eight assists for 24 points. "Chris is a quality, quality person and an excellent student," Gettler said. "Receiving this all-region academic award reflects his commitment as a student-athlete for four years. He is one of the guys who really represents us both in and out of the classroom." Richmond finished the 2005 season with a 4-8-6 record, which included one stretch where the Spiders only lost once in 10 games.
